Why Does My Paint Look Dull?

Your car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, or other motor vehicle had a lustrous shine and vibrant color that caught your eye and made you take it off the lot and home. Over time (especially in the Florida heat and direct sunlight), degradation of the top layers of your paint can occur. The sealants and clear coating that were applied at the factory get stripped off from road grime, bird droppings, automatic car washes, and other sources of abrasion and chemical application and removal. This leads to imperfections in the surface of the paint that manifest as swirl marks, scratches and overall dullness.

Scheduling a resurfacing and restoration session with your detailer will help to reverse and minimize these minor imperfections through a process of polishing and applying a wax/sealant to prevent further degradation and give the paint a consistent shine on a microscopic level. (note: for deeper/larger scratches, additional restoration work may be needed to correct that is not a part of the normal detailing process).

Regular hand-washing with proper techniques and cleaning products can help to prolong and maintain the sealant applied after a restoration session, and is advised 1-2 times a year for optimal paint shine and preservation.
