Getting a Deep Clean on My Vehicle Interior

Getting a deep, refreshed look, feel and smell to the inside of your car, truck, SUV, or other motor vehicle can be an extremely satisfying process and experience when done properly. While it can be tricky, a detailed interior can rejuvenate the vehicle and impress its riders.

Working top to bottom to get the best clean, starting with the top of the vehicle’s interior – the headliner.

The Headliner is the fabric that is applied to the ceiling of your car or truck. It is held together with an adhesive that can be degraded and damaged from high heat and humidity, so aggressive treatment with steam and mechanical scrubbing can actually do more harm than good. When this adhesive can no longer hold the headliner together, sagging can be seen that can hang low enough to rub against the top of riders’ heads and lead to further staining and fraying. A careful spot-treatment with a microfiber towel, a light degreaser and gentle scrubbing motion to release stains is recommended for this delicate part of the cabin exterior.

Seats, carpet and other upholstery are more durable and are best cleaned with a process of vacuuming, washing and extracting the remaining dirt and chemicals. The order and thoroughness of each step is critical to not only the end result of the vehicle but also the lifespan of the equipment used to clean upholstery.

First, the fabric is vacuumed to remove any large dirt and debris that can damage the extractor later in the process. Once the area is generally cleaned and ready for the next step, a cleaner with a drill brush is used to massage the fabric and get the cleaning compounds deep into the upholstery to release stains. After this brushing and massaging process, an extractor is used to pull the liquid and residue from the massaging process away from the fabric and out of the vehicle, allowing the interior to dry.

An interior deep cleaning is recommended 2-4 times per year to maintain a showroom-like result that can impress riders and drivers alike year round. Schedule your service with Corey’s Mobile Detailing here.
